“We operate in 11 countries, including Canada, the United States, Mexico, Germany, Slovakia, Spain and India so there is a level of complexity in managing language, culture, and local laws. Syntax also made five acquisitions in four years, so merging those groups into our culture also created challenges,” says Dessalen Wood, chief people officer. “Our culture is based on concepts of high trust and self-reliance, and we use several talent development tools to support that. But we needed a fundamental framework that would combine it all into a common language of leadership.”
