Eli Lilly operates under a set of specific guidelines called Team Lilly Expectations, which are to Include, Innovate, Accelerate, and Deliver. They wanted to create a culture of coaching where leaders could continuously develop their direct reports to be successful in their roles while supporting the Team Lilly Expectations. Although they had been training with SLII® and Self Leadership for several years, the Global L&D team decided to use the two programs together with intact work teams to further embed the coaching culture. Hear how they trained leaders in SLII and their direct reports in Self Leadership at the same time so entire teams could use the same leadership language to set goals, ask for direction and support to meet those goals, and monitor performance along the way. By linking the training to the expectations, they ensure that leaders are living the Team Lilly Expectations while holding their teams accountable for doing the same. They shared the success of the intact work team strategy with executives who plan to roll out the initiative with additional teams. The training has turned into a unique pull strategy, as various business units hear about the success and want to offer the training to their employees.
