Under the leadership of a new CEO, AARP wanted to become more innovative and agile to deal with a rapidly changing political and social environment. They realized that leaders would play a critical role in the transformation of their workforce and wanted to create a common language of leadership across the enterprise. The first step was hiring a highly experienced talent development team to create and implement a leadership development program. After conducting extensive research and formulating a comprehensive learning strategy, they launched a leadership development program that targeted people at all levels of the organization. Hear how they worked with The Ken Blanchard Companies to develop and deliver a comprehensive training curriculum consisting of sessions in SLII, Self, First-time Manager, Building Trust, Leading People Through Change, Leading Virtually, Listening, Giving Feedback, Challenging Conversations, DiSC, and Executive Coaching. Most importantly, learn how the blended executive education, open-enrollment, team-based learning, and innovative competency-based program blended online, social, and instructor-led learning. The results have been substantial. Attendance at programs is nearly 85 percent, participant satisfaction is 95 percent, and initial learning transfer studies have shown significant use of the skills as well as organizational impact.
